Scarlet Badis

The Scarlet Badis is a brilliantly colored freshwater nano fish, adored for its vivid red and blue striping. Native to the clear, slow-moving streams of India, this species is ideal for small, heavily planted aquariums. Males display more vibrant coloration and may become territorial with one another, while females remain more subdued in appearance. Best kept in species-only tanks or with very peaceful, similarly sized tank mates.

Scarlet Badis are micropredators and require a diet of live foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp, and microworms. Our Scarlet Badis are tank bred here in Texas and raised on a variety of live foods. While they will take frozen foods occasionally, they can be finicky eaters. A well-aquascaped tank with plenty of hiding places like driftwood, rocks, and dense vegetation helps them feel secure and show their most intense colors.
